Using the "Backup and Restore" function, you can back up the information of contacts, messages, call records, system data (including black/white list of contacts, clock, settings, phone manager, weather, desktop, etc.), apps(excluding applications data) and other data.
Go to [Settings] > [Addition Settings]/[System setting] > [Back up and reset]
You can create a backup file locally by:
[Settings] > [Addition Settings]/[System setting] > [Back up and reset]> [Back up & restore]/[Back up & migrate]> [Local backup]> [New backup] > [Start]

After you select the data you need to backup, it will save it in the storage (Internal Storage/Android/data/com.coloros.backuprestore/backup)
Note: The backup files will be saved in the phone storage, it will be cleared after you factory reset or flash. Please export it to your computer before factory reset or flash.
Select the backup file then restore the data from backup by [Settings] > [Addition Settings]/[System setting] > [Back up and reset]> [Back up & restore]/[Back up & migrate]> [Local backup] > Select a backup file > [Start]
Note: If you need to restore the data from other devices, you need to transfer the backup file to (Internal Storage/Android/data/com.coloros.backuprestore/backup) first, then you can select this backup file to restore it to your device.
Personal data: Contacts, Messages, Call history;
System data: Clock, Weather, Desktop, Black list of Contacts, Bookmark of Browser, Calendar, Settings;
Apps: Third-party apps that can be uninstalled (WhatsApp, games, etc. Please make sure you have enough storage space if you have many apps);
Clone Phone is an app provided by OnePlus for migrating data between mobile phones. Using the Clone Phone, you can quickly transfer all the data (photo, contacts, apps, etc.) on the old phone to the new phone. Details of Clone Phone: Clone Phone
Third-party services (Such as Google Drive, and OneDrive), can help you back up the data to the third-party server. According to the functions provided by the service, different types of data can be backed up to the server of the service provider. Loss of the phone, factory reset, and flashing will not affect the data on the server, you can set automatic backup or manual backup in the third-party service.
Some apps can backup and restore the data by themselves in the account storage. For details, please refer to the apps. (For example, WhatsApp can backup the chat history to Google Drive, and WeChat can transfer the chat history to a PC)
Connect the phone to the computer through the data cable, or you can also the device directly to the U-disk//external memory (an external drive or USB Stick) through the OTG function of the phone and copy your data from the "File Management" to the computer or U-disk for backup. Only the data (pictures, videos, audios, documents, etc.) that can be seen in the "File Management" can be backed up, and the data in other apps such as contacts, notes, text messages, calendars, application chat records, etc. cannot be backed up.
Important note: We recommend the backup to be performed periodically (monthly, even weekly).
